Hugh has worked in mineral exploration and research in sedimentary rocks for more than 25 years. Prior to joining Birch Mountain, Hugh worked as a geoscientist with the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). Hugh and coworkers at the GSC reported the discovery of precious metal microparticles in 1994. His work contributed to Birch's discovery of natural nanoparticles in the same rocks early in 2000 and the filing of patent applications to protect the Company's intellectual property.
